With another major expansion project almost complete, Amerequip, a Kiel-based designer and manufacturer of custom equipment for the lawn, landscape, agricultural, construction and industrial markets, is also expanding its workforce.
“We’ve completed two large expansion projects over the past four years, and the third expansion is nearly complete,” said Mike VanderZanden, president/CEO of Amerequip. “Each phase has been driven by increased business, requiring additional capacity, state-of-the-art technology, improved flow and additional team members. In turn, all of this activity has created a very dynamic work environment. It’s exciting to see and experience.”
Amerequip has invested more than $24 million in facilities, equipment, training and personnel during the past five years.
Prior to the first expansion project, which began in 2012, Amerequip had 125 team members. With each expansion, hiring has ramped up.
In the first quarter of 2017 alone, Amerequip hired 35 team members in fabrication, machining, welding, material handling, paint and assembly. During the second quarter of 2017, it will hire an additional 15-20 associates. That will bring total employment at Amerequip’s three Wisconsin-based facilities to 300.
“The growth has been exciting,” VanderZanden said. “It’s not only good for our company, our customers and our team members, it’s good for the region. It has a positive ripple effect in the communities where we’re located. We’re looking forward to what the future will bring.”
